Once again, my students astound me with their ability to express profound thoughts in English essays despite their rudimentary writing skills.

I recently asked them what they would do if they had the power to change the world. Here are some of the responses:

  • I will travel all over the world to change the bad people to kind people.
  • I will build lots of houses for the people who have no house. The reason why I do it is for love, big love.
  • I want to prevent war. The war gives us not only painful memories, but also destructive environment.
  • I want to be the Love God. I hope all lovers can see each other every day. Oh, the world is so sweet!
  • I want to change the lives of children who don’t have parents. I want everyone to have a home and family.
  • I will change the climate of the world. I will prevent the earthquake, tsunami and so on. And I will let the crop grow well so there is no hungery.
  • I’ll fight with the bad people and try my best to help the poors. And I’ll maintain world peace to make people live comfortable.
  • I hope the people that live in Aferica can keep away from hunger and poor life.
  • I want to keep my families and friends young forever.
  • Get a beautiful, gentle, virtuous wife and stay with her forever.
  • I want to go back to my childhood.
  • I would make a number of beautiful and interesting movies. People would learns lots of useful sense from the movies.
  • The first thing I want to change is people’ uncivilized behavior. I don’t want to see people spit everywhere and throwing litter.

Not all the answers were so serious:

  • I want to make China’s soccer stronger.
  • I really want to get the first prize of lottery so that I can get many many money.
  • I would make my dormitory better.
  • I will know what will happen in the future. If I get this power, I can’t do something wrong because I can know the result before I do it.
  • I can become a wonderwoman.
